This document, often referred to as a prescription, is to be completed by your healthcare practitioner (physician, surgeon or a nurse practitioner) and will specify dosage requirements and duration. Once they have completed the document, please have your physician's office or clinic fax it back to us at 1-888-965-4623.

Should your physician give you the original document, you can either send it to us by mail or have it picked-up by a courier at no charge to you. If you would like this option, please contact our Customer Experience Team at 1-844-406-1852 and we will schedule a convenient time for pick-up.

How to Talk to your Doctor

Talking to your doctor about medical marijuana should not be a difficult or uncomfortable experience, though you may be wondering how to approach the conversation. Below are some tips on how to broach the topic.

1. Share your experience and reasons why you think medical marijuana might be worth considering for your treatment. This could include the efficacy or side effects of current medications you are on. If you have had personal experience with using marijuana and found it to have a positive effect on alleviating your symptoms, say so. You may also wish to voice concern about your ability to access a safe and legal supply of medical marijuana, versus obtaining it from an untrustworthy source.

2. Once explaining your reasons, simply ask your Doctor if they are willing to sign your medical document.

3. If your Doctor is unwilling to sign your medical document ask them if they are willing to sign a referral form for a doctor that specialises in Cannabinoid therapy.

Who can register with Hydropothecary?

Hydropothecary is a Licensed Producer under Health Canada, which means that our clients must be residing in Canada, and in possession of the necessary medical document signed by a healthcare practitioner.

How do I obtain a prescription for medical marijuana?

Talk to your doctor about prescribing medical marijuana. If you do not have a doctor, or find your doctor unwilling, we might be able to help. Contact us to get started.

What information do I need to provide on my medical document?

The medical document should be filled out by your authorized health care practitioner, and should include the following information:

- Patient's given name, surname, date of birth

- Health Care Practitioner's name, profession, province(s) authorized to practice in, licence number(s)

- Health Care Practitioner's business address, phone number, fax number, email address

- Period of use, and daily quantity of dried marijuana to be used by the patient (g/day)

- Patient's medical condition

- Maximum THC percentage, Maximum CBD percentage

How do I buy medical marijuana?

How much medical marijuana can I order at once?

Depending on the daily limit set in your medical document, you can order up to a quantity of dried marijuana or cannabis oil that does not exceed the equivalent of 150g of dried marijuana per order.

What are the minimum order sizes?

Our H2 and Decarb lines are a minimum of 5 grams per order, but our Time of Day line does not have a minimum order size.

How much marijuana can I carry at one time?

Under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR), an individual can carry a maximum of 150 grams of dried marijuana, or 30 times their daily authorized amount at any one time, whichever is less.

For example, if an individual is prescribed 2 grams per day, they are limited to possessing a maximum of 60 grams (30 days x 2 grams) at one time. If you are prescribed 6 grams per day, you would only be able to carry the maximum of 150 grams, despite the fact that this would be less than your 30-day supply.

How do I travel with my medical marijuana?

Under the Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR), an individual can carry a maximum of 150 grams of dried marijuana, or 30 times their daily authorized amount at any one time, whichever is less.

For example, if an individual is prescribed 2 grams per day, they are limited to possessing a maximum of 60 grams (30 days x 2 grams) at one time. The Government of Canada warns that no individual is allowed to carry marijuana in or out of Canada, even if they are authorized to possess or produce.

- Be prepared to have your medical document and bags checked by police.

- Travel with medical marijuana in your carry-on luggage.

- Anticipate delays by arriving at the airport early.

How do I place an order?

Once you have registered with us, we will confirm your registration by email or telephone and we will issue you a Client Identification Number (CID). You can then sign-in and create your account on our online webstore or call us 24/7 to place your order.

How will I receive my order from Hydropothecary?

Once we receive your order, we will ship it directly to you. Packaged discreetly, Purolator Express will deliver your order anywhere in Canada, when it is most convenient for you. We offer evening and Saturday delivery where available in Canada.

Purolator or Canada Post will deliver your order to your residential address. Deliveries will take between 1 and 3 business days depending on your location. Keep in mind that we cannot deliver to P.O. boxes under the ACMPR regulations.

How can I check the status of my order?

Once your order has shipped, we will email you a tracking number and you will be able to check the status of your order. You can also call our 24/7 customer service line at 1-844-406-1852 to inquire about the status of your order.

Does Hydropothecary offer direct billing to Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)?

Yes, we offer direct billing to Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).

Is medical marijuana covered by Canadian Health Care benefits?

Currently, most insurance plans do not cover medical marijuana. In some cases, medical marijuana may be claimed as a medical expense for tax purposes. In most cases, medical cannabis is not covered under provincial or private drug plans, although it is always worth checking with your provider. Medical cannabis purchased from a licensed producer can be claimed on your personal tax return, and if you are a veteran, you q: may have coverage through Veterans Affairs Canada.

How can I prove that I am in legal possession of medical marijuana?

If required to prove that you are in legal possession of medical marijuana, you can show either your glass jar label on the package that you receive, or the Hydropothecary Client and Order Details Document that accompanies it.

What are the new Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulations (ACMPR)?

On August 24, 2016, the Marihuana for Medical Purposes Regulations (MMPR) were replaced by the new Access to Cannabis for Medical Purposes Regulation (ACMPR).

Under these regulations, Canadian have the option to purchase marijuana from one of the Health Canada licensed producers, such as Hydropothecary. It also allows Canadians to produce or designate someone to produce a limited amount of marijuana for them.

How is marijuana tested for potency?

Hydropothecary uses an independent, third party, Health Canada approved laboratory to test the potency of all its products. These results are listed on each label of your products.

What is decarboxylation, or decarboxylated marijuana?

Decarboxylation is the process of applying heat to the dried cannabis, which activates cannabinoids in the plant. This process is also known as 'decarbing'. With Hydropothecary's Decarb product line we use a proprietary drying method and exacting scientific standards decarboxylate (decarb) the cannabis, which activates the cannabinoids (THC and CBD). After a fine milling process, the resulting product has the consistency of flour. What is the difference between bud, milled and fine milled products?

Think about it like coffee. A bud is the whole bean, requiring grinding (or milling) before it can be used. Milled refers to a coarse milling similar to top drip coffee. Fine milled is like espresso ground coffee, like the consistency of flour. We use fine milled marijuana in our Decarb product line for CannaCap.

If I 'Sign Up' with Hydropothecary does that make me a "registered" customer?

When you 'Sign Up,' on our website, this does not make you a registered customer.

Once I send my medical document to a licensed producer, can I get it back or transfer it to another producer?

According to the ACMPR, once you have submitted a medical document to a licensed producer, it cannot be transferred to another party. In order to switch licensed producers, a new medical document is required.

How do I pay for my order?

We accept payment for your order by Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express. Your payment is entered at time of ordering and is pre-authorized. It will be finalized when your order is ready to ship.

Do military veterans receive insurance coverage?

Does Hydropothecary irradiate their products?

Hydropothecary treats all of it's products with gamma irradiation as we believe in nothing but the safest of products. Gamma irradiation is safe and is widely used. In fact, many of the items that you purchase in the grocery store are most likely treated with Gamma irradiation.

Are there any sales taxes when I order with Hydropothecary?

You will be charged the appropriate sales tax based on your province of residence indicated on your medical document.

Does Hydropothecary offer any edible products?

Currently, Hydropothecary does not offer any edible products, but we do offer decarb CannaCap and our cannabis oil, Elixir No.1, is coming soon. Click here to learn more about our product offerings.
